It’s not every day that you get a call from a friend and fellow songwriter to tell me one of our songs is #1 on last year’s #1 independent radio station in the nation. Across all genres. Well, it happened!
Robert Abernathy and I penned “You Can’t Have My Boat” a couple of years ago and had it recorded. But things don’t happen overnight. It’s gained attention along the way, but now it’s finally making it to a larger listening audience.
Written in then-science-teacher Robert’s classroom before school, the song is a make-you-smile tune about a breakup where they only thing the guy is dead-set on keeping is his boat. Musically it sounds like a collaboration between Blake Sheldon and Michael Jackson… straight up fun.
Thanks to everyone for listening!
